Christopher V.L. Giffuni
Chris is a Certified Public Accountant, and a founder and shareholder of Giffuni & Young CPA. He was previously employed by Deloitte and Touche LLC, and as the CFO of a large privately held electronics manufacturer. In addition he has been a co-founder and chief financial executive in a computer software start up company. Chris is also the co-founder, Managing Member and Chief Operating Officer of Ameriteak Reforestation, LLC which is a forestry plantation project establishment and management company in Central America. Mr. Giffuni has advised and consulted with numerous companies, both publicly traded and privately held, on a variety of financial, accounting, computer and investment issues. He has extensive experience in real estate including the litigation and settlement of a portfolio of Manhattan apartment buildings encompassing a divestiture well in the eight figures. In addition Mr. Giffuni has extensive expertise in recording studio technology and operation. Mr. Giffuni graduated from Alfred University where he earned Bachelor of Science degree in Business and has served on the Board of Directors of several public, private, and not for profit entities.
Chris is involved in the financial and computer aspects of the client’s business. Beginning with the record keeping function he is involved through to the preparation of the historical financial statements and preparation of related documentation for a specific project whether it be a business plan, projection, mortgage or commercial loan application, capital financing, etc. He then interacts with the tax professionals as the financial statements become the integral part of the tax return. In addition we interface with larger accounting firms which provide audit or international services that we do not.
Chris is a licensed Investment Banker holding series 63 and 79 licenses. His expertise in M&A transactions is often utilized by clients in buy side transactions during the expansion of the business and sell side activities on an exit. Together with other Investment Banking colleagues at Kildare Capital Inc., he is involved also in the capital raise and debt refinance activities of businesses.
Timothy R. Young
Tim is a Certified Public Accountant, and a founder and shareholder of Giffuni & Young CPA, P.C., He was previously employed by Deloitte and Touche LLC as a Senior Tax Manager and as a CFO of a privately held advertising and marketing firm. While at Deloitte and Touche and Giffuni & Young, Mr. Young was responsible for tax research, compliance, planning, and consulting. Mr. Young has advised and consulted with numerous entities, both publicly traded and privately held, including multi-national and multi-state structures, as well as, senior management on a variety of tax issues impacting both the business entity and the senior management personally. Mr. Young has served clients in numerous industries including multi-national trading companies, automotive sales, lease and rental companies, real estate investment, construction and rental activities, wholesale operations in the pharmaceutical, electronics, food and furniture fields, manufacturing in various industries and professional service businesses in the fields of law, medicine, dentistry, chiropractic and financial advisers. Mr. Young also has extensive tax experience in individual, divorce and estate planning for senior management and principals of closely held businesses. During his 13 years at Deloitte and Touche his client service list included Avis Rent-A-Car, Hearst Publications, Lord Abbott & Co., Mitsubishi International Corporation, Mitsui & Co. USA, Nichemin & Co USA and Norton Simon.
Mr. Young graduated from Bernard Baruch College where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting and a Masters of Business Administration degree in Taxation.
Tim is responsible for the tax planning and compliance. It is he, who, together with the principals, determines the form of the entity, the structure of ownership among the principals, the mechanics of the compensation for the principals, and controls the tax compliance with such things as estimated payments, elections, mechanics of transactions, etc. By being closely involved with the planning of client’s business transactions (mergers, divestitures, acquisitions, etc.) and the personal tax picture of the principals, Tim is able to plan an integrated strategy to minimize the tax burden of the business and its principals.
Gary M. Beckmann is a Certified Public Accountant and has worked in the public accounting arena since 1990. While working full time and attending college, Gary started his career with a small tax and accounting firm on Long Island where he specialized in consulting businesses with tax, accounting, and information technology. Prior to leaving the firm to pursue more challenging positions, Gary achieved partner status and was responsible for managing the firm’s daily operations.
Gary has worked for several small to medium sized accounting firms and brings this diverse experience to Giffuni and Young CPA, P.C. where he specializes in tax controversy, planning, research, and preparation; financial statement preparation, and advising business owners on growing their business and succession planning. Gary provides services to many clients in the entertainment industry and manages the financial lifestyles of high net worth individuals.
Gary’s greatest professional achievements are in his problem solving abilities, and the rapport he’s established and maintained with the firm’s clients. They depend on and trust in him, and he thrives on exceeding their expectations.
Gary is currently pursuing his MBA in taxation while raising two young children with his wife Lori. He is a member of the NYS Society of CPAs and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Teri, a former client, joined G&Y after a successful career in the private sector. Teri was previously employed as a tax examiner by IRS and CFO for several Long Island firms. Her depth of experience in a broad range of industries, including manufacturing, distribution and construction, serves our clients well. Teri specializes in business automation, training client staff to streamline their accounting systems and interface with governmental agencies. Certified in Microsoft and Quick-books training, Teri graduated from Marquette University with a B.A. in Political Science and holds certificates from North Carolina State University in Traffic, Human Resources and Computer Science.
Lynn E. Udovich
Lynn E. Udovich (Young) is a tax professional with 13 years of public accounting experience. Her areas of expertise include tax compliance, tax research, planning and consulting for corporations, partnerships, fiduciaries, estates and individuals. Ms. Udovich has advised and assisted a diverse client base in developing tax strategies for owners of closely held businesses and high net worth individuals throughout her career. She has served clients in numerous industries including construction and rental activities, automotive sales, wholesale operations in food, electronic and furniture fields, manufacturing in various industries and professional service businesses in law, medicine, dentistry, and architectural fields.
Ms. Udovich started her career in the tax department of Arthur Andersen and KPMG. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from State University of New York at Geneseo and her Master’s degree in Taxation from Hofstra University. Ms. Udovich is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of both the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
